My setup - cymbal--> Alesis Trigger I/O--> BFD2 (standalone or w/ Garageband)

The good: Responsive, triggers nicely on the I/O. Feels like it picks up every one of my stick strikes. I can turn the threshold & re-trigger parameters down without getting any false triggers. Acoustic noise of hitting my sticks on the cymbal is acceptable (not whisper quiet, but much quieter than an acoustic cymbal).

The not-so-good: no instructions included for setting up with a drum module. But, as opposed to the DMPad Ride, this is almost plug and play. I haven't been able to get the choke function working, but I haven't spent too much time trying (and it might an I/O issue, hence the need for trial & error). (Choke function on a HH isn't a huge deal for me, but in my mind, all features of a product should function as intended.)
