Pros: -Excellent sound banks! Really, these drums sound all kinds of sweet. -Light, compact, could easily throw it in my bag -Legible display, responsive buttons Cons: -The supplied USB cord was too short for me; I want to sit on my couch and play, and that's too far from the computer. -Needs a computer... but you knew that, and that's how it costs $xxx instead of a lot more. -The software is difficult to learn (but it's powerful stuff, so what do you expect? It's hard to learn how to make good music, regardless of your instrument) I'd recommend this to anybody... The simple reasons for this: Hands on beat creation with responsive pads. If you have never used drum machines before it makes a world of difference compared to keyboard or editor drum programming. Extensive library of drums sounds - all quite good. Completely awesome effects and sound shaping ability on each drum sound independently (or as a group). This really adds to the quality of beats. Learning curve very reasonable, and once achieved: Very easy to build up original beats and arrange them in tracks, this can all be done in minutes. And on top of all that, once you get a good beat going in your song, you not only hear it come alive, you SEE it come alive with the lighted pads on Mikro that each light when that particular sound plays. It's like a little light show that goes with the beat perfectly, I'm new to drum machines so forgive any uneccessary... My workflow is much faster and creative with the versatility of this product. Easy to learn plus there are lots of videos out there. Great for live performance for djs or studio production for producers. Mikro is very portable which is great for inspiration on the road. Drum pads are very responsive. The software takes a little getting used to. Overall I purchased this for production and wished i would have bought the full version vs. the mikro which is better for live performance in my opinion. |
