With apologies to drummers everywhere, we didn't think we could face the ruckus of a full real drum set being played inside the house. So we talked her into a digital drum set. We have been very happy with this unit. The sound is very realistic and she loves experimenting with the different drum and percussion sounds available. It has been a real hit with the whole family. Since the unit has a volume knob, we can enjoy listening to her play without it being too loud. And there is a headphone jack for private practices. I have played drums since I was 16 now that I'm over 50 I just wanted a set to dabble with that would not take up much space. These things are great and programed sets have nice realistic sounds, however this unit has some drawbacks. One there is no AUX input for an MP3 player so that you can play along with your favorite songs. I had to modify a radio shack amp and run the output of this set into it to be able to do that, needless to say I wasn't too happy about trying to figure out that process. My other gripe is that the foot pedals are not transducers, they are switches so you can,t (and I was really hoping to do this) use normal Yamaha or other brand Kick Pedals. I love the fact that it is nice enough for adult drummers to play on and yet is compact and (headphone accessible) quiet enough for her to store and play in her room. The tutorial mode is helpful for her. Everything seems very sturdy and was easy to put together. |
